Intrinsic realities
When people talk about finding truth, they're especially interested in learning the intrinsic as opposed to extrinsic realities of the universe including its state space, dynamics, and optima. Life represents an optimum of the universe. The human brain represents a model of reality (and very appropriately, for only it can model all other elements of reality). The brain optimizes its patterns of thought to the universe's behavior. As abstract mathematics shows, only some patterns of thought remain perfectly congruent with the intrinsic order of the universe. The danger exists that a brain with its limited model of reality may optimize beliefs or behavior while excluding key elements and arrive at percieved 'optima' that fail to stand up to reality.
The human body is its own reward function. That is, much somatic information processing takes place in our body.
